Classes for everyone...

Please come and join us at our boutique kitchen and shop in Ilkley where we have a wide selection of cake decorating and chocolate classes now available. Whether you are a beginner or just want to expand your skills we have a range of classes available. Classes are run from our little shop, hosting just 4 students per chocolate class and 5 students per cake decorating class. All the materials, aprons and edibles are provided for you during the classes. Drinks will be provided throughout the day and a light lunch is provided for full day classes only.

There is no parking outside the shop but there are car parks in the town in additional to parking along residential roads opposite.

Payment in full will be required at the time of booking. If you have any questions regarding any of the cake decorating or chocolate classes please do not hesitate to get in touch before booking. Please be aware that we will be unable to refund any classes once you have booked unless we have to cancel the class and if so, a full refund will be given.

We are now able to offer one to one cake decorating tuition, please email us on dominique@poppypickering.co.uk with details of your requirements and we will be able to develop either a full day (10-5) or half day (10-1.30) bespoke course together. All equipment, tools, lunch, refreshments and materials are provided.

The cost for this will be £500 per day or £250 per half day.

In the unlikely event that Poppy Pickering has to cancel a class, a full refund will be offered. We are unable to offer any refunds should you decide to cancel or are unable to attend your class. Please double check dates and travel arrangements before you make a booking. We cannot be held liable for any money spent, such as travel arrangements, hotel bookings etc.

If Poppy Pickering have to cancel a class and you have already made a booking, the refund amount from Poppy Pickering will be limited to the total amount of money you spent on the booking class with us.

All the skills learnt at any of the cake or chocolate classes are intended for your own personal use and under no circumstances should the class be replicated and taught to your own students.

Class Details

Macaron Masterclass (4 hours)

In this 4 hour beginners class you will learn how to master the 'Italian' technique of Macaron making and mix the batter to the correct piping consistency. Learn how to pipe the Macaron shells and how to cook them. We will then create a flavoured chocolate ganache filling and assemble the shells. If time allows we will also add some decoration.
There will only be 4 students maximum for this class. You will bake one batch of Macarons and oversee a second batch.

Class Details

Beginners Ganache, Marzipan, Piping & Icing Class (1 Day)

This one day beginners basics is a super class for those wanting a introduction to cake decorating and how to learn creating those super sharp edges on a ganached and a marzipaned cake.

We will level and fill a 6" sponge cake, cover with white chocolate ganache using the amazing PROFROSTER tool and ganaching plates, then ice with sugar paste and create a sharp edged finish. I will then also show you how to marzipan a 6” fruitcake to achieve sharp edged finish ...

Class Details

Beginners Sugar Flowers (1 day)

In this beginners one day class, you will be shown how to make a modern rose, a garden rose, a anemone and a selection of wired leaves along with some filler flowers (time dependant). You will also look at dusting and taping. At the end of the day you will be able to take home your sugar flowers to arrange on a cake.
